Designing a nursery is one of the most popular things to do when expecting a new baby. We all want to create a warm and cozy place for our new baby.
Designing a nursery isn’t just about choosing a rug or a crib. I find that the accessories and personal touches are the ones that will have the most impact on your nursery’s look and feel. With a few smart decisions, upgrading your nursery doesn’t mean you need to spend a lot of money; you just need to choose your items wisely. Using of soft fabrics, calming prints and accessories can be the total, successful makeover you need.
To get you started, here are a few ideas that hopefully will help you easily create a chic nursery for your little one.
I think that when it comes to decorating a room, a good wall decal can be the only thing you can add that completely changes the look of the room. When it comes to choosing a wall decal for your nursery, I personally recommend you choose a decal which can work for at least 2-3 years. You don’t want to pick something too noisy or too colorful; you’re better off with calming and delicate stickers. That being said, a bright design can work too, but it needs planning and thinking so your nursery will still be clam and soothing for your baby because after all, the desire to have a stylish nursery needs to combine with your baby’s need of a relaxing and not over-stimulating room.

It’s amazing how a simple basket can totally decorate your nursery. I love storage boxes, they are practical and usually doesn’t cost much. After messy play-time, in about 10 seconds you can just shove all of the toys in. You can use the storage box for toys, laundry, diapers or even just to decorate and add some color or style to your nursery. One of the most popular storage boxes for nurseries is the Zoo Storage by Skiphop. It’s available in several cute animals shapes and immediately adds color and playfulness to your nursery. Another storage bin basket that adds chic and style to your nursery is the Minene storage baskets. These bins come in a great variety of calm, chic colors and patterns such as stars, dots, and strips.

Changing pad covers
Changing pad is one of the most used product in your house. You’ll used it starting your baby’s first day home up to when he or she are two years old. Choosing a cover design for your changing mat can add a great touch to your nursery. The first one in the picture above is by adenandanais. The second one by Minene is an untraditional pad; it’s less common in the States to use this kind of changing pad but I personally have it and I think it’s a great pad. You have more space to change your baby, you can remove the cover in order to clean it , and it also comes with a head protector pillow. The third one is by Skiphop, another great baby brand that we personally love here on Uptownbaby.
Designing a great nursery is something that you can totally do without spending too much. All you need is some free time and a good idea. I hope that you found something that you liked and will embrace to upgrade or redesign your nursery.
