A diaper bag is one of the most useful bags you’ll be using in your baby’s first year, lots of moms are looking for a bag which will be both functional and have a chic look. When it comes to functionally some features, from my opinion, are extremely important and I personally would not compromise on a bag that doesn’t have them.
If you are a mom to be I hope that my next tips will help you understand what you should consider while buying your bag.

Size
Size does matter! But on the other end don’t over do it. A good size bag will be very useful, the diaper bag needs to hold so many things so a big bag is defiantly a plus, but consider, at first you’ll need to carry lots of items with you but over time as your baby grows this need will decrease and you’ll be carrying less items. You don’t want to carry a bag which is so big it will not be uncomfortable for you.
Make sure that the one you buy has enough storage but still is not too big to be used when your baby is a bit older.
Color
In the end of the day, you are the one who is carrying and using the bag. You should defiantly pick a bag to your liking regardless of the sex of the baby. If you have a boy that doesn’t mean you can’t buy a floral bag. Do consider one more element when choosing your bag’s color, which is funcanatly, even if you are a big fan of white, or light colors, think about endurance and the fact that you don’t want to clean it every week.
Division
The difference between a good diaper bag to a great one is DIVISION! Try to think how will this bag serve you on a daily basis. The bag needs to hold your baby’s clothes, diapers, wipes, changing mat, bottles, perhaps food, snacks, blanket, some toys and don’t forget your stuff too! Wallet, phones, keys and more. You should choose a bag which has a clear division, a bag that once you open it everything has it’s place. It doesn’t really matter how the bag is divided as log as it matches your needs. It can be divided into small compartments or even by pockets, fabric dividers or even zippers, still you should have some short of division inside which should help you be organized. You want the bag to be functional so when the time comes and you need something it will be clear for you to see if and just pull it out.
Price
When buying a product that meant to last, I think it’s smart to invest sometimes more in order to get a good product, but you always need to keep in mind that a high price tag doesn’t always says “quality product”. The most expensive ones are not necessarily the best ones. I’ve seen some really affordable diaper bags that do an awesome job and look extra chic and fun. Price is individual, so here I can only recommend that if you are buying on a budget, don’t worry, you can find some great bags that will look fantastic, will last for years and will do the job!
Zipper or Clutch
I’m a huge fan of zipper bags, I hate when things can fall off, or peek 🙂 . I think that in terms of functionally it’s better to choose a bag which closes with a zipper, making sure all of your things are secure and can’t fall. Your diaper bag will probably be most of the times very packed, so a zipper is extremely important to make sure all things will be held inside. But, then again I guess some moms will prefer the clutch.
Material
Another element you should consider is the material of the bag. Choosing a good lasting material means that the bag will hold for many years and will look great. Since this bag will be at your service at least in the first year of your baby, it means that you will probably use it all the time and yes over time it can be warn off, so choosing a good material is important. You need a bag you can wash, or clean with a clothe or even throw into the washing machine. It doesn’t matter if you choose a leather one or polyester one still make sure it is easy to clean will stand in the test of time and will not look poor after only a few weeks of use.
Extra Goodies
Most of the time we spend some big bucks on this bag, so make sure that the bag you are planing to buy, will hold some nifty features such as a changing mat a pacifier holder and more.
The bag above is my all time favorite Kipling Camama , I have it in grey.
Future use
Perhaps now it’s hard to imagine but your little one will grow up so fast that before you’ll now it your need for the diaper bag will be over. Once again the diaper bag are not cheap so I think it’s smart to choose a bag that can be useful beyond its original purpose.
