Now that spring is here, it’s time to put the heavy-weight buggies away and get the lighter ones out of the closet. Mark II, Maclaren’s lightest buggy yet, will make long walks in the park a lot more pleasant.
It’s understandable that babies need a lot of protection against the cold when the parents are taking them out for a walk, but that doesn’t mean that strollers have to be heavy to accomplish that purpose. Fabrics aside, the structure of the buggy should be made from durable, yet light materials, and that’s exactly what Maclaren looked for when they created the Mark II.
This stroller draws a lot of inspiration from the 1965 B-01 buggy designed by the company’s founder, Owen Maclaren. In the 50 years since that model came out, there have been a lot of advancements made in the way buggies look and work.
A large, yet subtle Maclaren logo adorns the sides of the stroller, but apart from that, the Mark II doesn’t seem that extraordinary. However, that’s definitely a false first impression, as the quality of the materials, the compact structure and the light weight will surely convince parents otherwise.
Pushing the 3.4kg/7.4Ib buggy will be an effortless task, fact that should encourage parents to take longer walks with their babies, especially since the sun is out and the temperature is rising. Even if the weather changes suddenly, the ripstop fabric and the waterproof hood should keep the baby safe from wind and rain.
According to the manufacturer, the stroller should fit babies who are 6 months or more, and there is also a maximum capacity limit of 55lbs (USA) / 20kg (AUS) / 15kg (EU-UK). Seeing how Australia and Europe use the same unit of measurement, it’s a bit peculiar that the capacity differs between these continents.
The Mark II buggy is currently available on the Maclaren Baby website in five different colors (Silver, Carmine Pink, Midnight Navy, Spicy Orange, and Black, which is the latest addition) for $200. Apart from the color, there are no other differences between the models.
Maclaren’s Sovereign Lifetime Warranty is yet another proof that this stroller manufacturer has great confidence that their products are indeed excellent. All that buyers have to do to benefit from the warranty upgrade is to register the buggy online within 45 days of purchase.
